About UGA International Charity Fund

Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine has made it the most mined country in the world. As a result, the agricultural sector has suffered significantly, as 6 million hectares of farmland have actually fallen out of use due to mining, explosive contamination, hostilities or occupation. The loss of this grain-growing land will have enormous consequences for the agricultural sector, the country’s economy, the welfare of farmers, and the availability of food for tens or hundreds of millions of people around the world who rely on affordable grain supplies from Ukraine. The problem of agricultural land mines in Ukraine undermines global food security, which is under additional pressure due to global climate change.

The Ukrainian Grain Association, which unites grain producers, processors and exporters, which together account for about 90% of all grain exports, decided to join the humanitarian demining of Ukrainian agricultural land to help Ukrainian producers return their land to the grain growing cycle as soon as possible and minimize losses for the country’s economy, the welfare of its citizens, and, most importantly, reduce the negative impact on global food security and the spread of hunger.

The Ukrainian Grain Association has established the UGA International Charity Fund to raise funds and finance the needs of humanitarian demining of agricultural land in Ukraine.
